Wedding hats 'should be flattering rather than on-trend'
Published by Richard Charles
When selecting headwear for nuptials at wedding venues in Hertfordshire it is important to select something that is accentuates the wearer's best features.
This was the advice given by marketing manager at Colour Me Beautiful Fiona Welling, who explained how fascinators are on-trend, but hats also remain a popular choice among guests.
Mothers-of-the-bride who are unsure what to opt for were advised to consider what will look flattering rather than just following the latest fashion must-haves.
It was noted many ladies will select a hat that appeals to their personal tastes, but this should not be a priority over a style that complements the wearer.
"If you do like a hat make sure you get the right size and brim for your structure and your face shape," Ms Welling stated.
Other tips included opting for long-lasting makeup that will stay put throughout the celebrations without smudging and should only need minor touch-ups.
Ms Welling recommended applying waterproof mascara in case the ceremony causes mothers-of-the-bride to feel emotional and shed a tear or two.
As for what to wear, ladies were warned not to choose new shoes that have never been worn before, as it is important guests are comfortable.
A decent-sized handbag was also recommended, as that way women can carry all their essentials, including makeup so looks can be retouched later in the day.
Those looking for inspiration as to what type of attire to wear were encouraged by Ms Welling to consider actress Helen Mirren's sense of style.
According to the expert, the star always opts for "clothes that compliment her figure and her personality and are suitable for her age without being frumpy".
Ms Welling suggested selecting a simple, classic ensemble which flatters the body and using on-trend jewellery to keep the look up-to-date and on-trend.
