Bridesmaids planning hen parties ahead of nuptials at wedding venues in Hertfordshire may be inspired by tips on how to prepare for a successful celebration.

An article featured in Female First provided women with pointers on the best way to organise a stress-free party that will be enjoyed by both the bride and her friends.

Firstly, ladies were encouraged to leave the bride-to-be out of all arrangements and only ask her for a list of people she would like to attend.

All other features should be kept a secret until the day of the event, that way it will be extra fun for the hen.

It was suggested that creating a "great playlist" should be a priority in order to "get the party going" and this can include a song described by each guest as one that reminds them of the bride.

A compilation CD including all the tunes was recommended as an ideal hen party memento for everyone to take home.

Taking a camera was described as a must, so the fun can be captured and the bride has pictures to look back on.

Another idea was to invest in some funny name badges if the party will include friends from various backgrounds who have not met before.

One way to introduce everyone and ensure the mood is relaxed is to prepare a few icebreakers and ask the group to tell amusing anecdotes about the bride.

For a special touch, ladies were encouraged to create a signature cocktail especially for the hen party that all the attendees can share over a toast to the occasion.

Performing karaoke and undertaking a series of challenges and dares are popular hen party activities, along with drinking games that can help to break the ice among those who do not know one another.
